Manali offers a lot of treks to explore, a bunch of adventure activities to experience, and a beautiful view to cherish. Shimla, the summer capital of British, is also the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla is located at the foothills of the Himalayan range and provides an exclusive walking experience. Day 1: Enjoy some fresh air and scenic Beauty-
On your first day in Manali, have a quick breakfast and leave for Rohtang Pass. The Pass is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Manali. The entire route provides a spectacular view. The entry to Rohtang Pass requires permission. The permit is available online and is valid only for 24 hours. The Pass is located at 13,054 ft and is the door to the famous Lahaul and Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh. Enjoy the eye-catching sight of glaciers, Lahaul valley, and the Chandra River. One can also witness the twin peaks of Geypan from here. The Pass lies between the water basins of the Chenab and the Beas river. Spend 2-3 hours in Rohtang Pass. Do some skiing, the sleigh in a wooden sled, and trek around, exploring all sides' views. On your way back, go to Solang Valley. Solang Valley offers a range of adventure activities such as parachuting, paragliding, mountain biking, zorbing, skiing, zipline, and Gondola. Spend your time exploring and clicking pictures. You can also enjoy some Maggie at lunch. While returning to the town, do not forget to stop and collect some freshwater from Nehrukund. The water here comes from freshly melted glaciers above. For dinner, you can choose from some of the famous cafes in Manali. Many cafes offer outdoor settings, live music, and spectacular views. Cafe 1947 is one such Cafe.
Day 2: Get wet in the cold and Explore the city-
After having breakfast, go river rafting on the Beas river. The thrilling adventure awaits you. Manali river rafting is suitable for beginners and advanced rafters. Seek some everlasting rafting experience with your family, friends, or spouse. Ensure you get wet in the cold river. After river rafting, head to the mall road in the old Manali town. The mall road offers a lot of street shops to eat. So you can enjoy hot, mouthwatering delicacies and roam around exploring the city. You can also shop for some excellent cheap winter wear and shawls from the mall road in Manali. After roaming around and shopping, head to Hidimba Temple. The temple lies in the proximity of the cave where Goddess Hidimba meditated. The temple is located at a certain height and has pine and deodar trees in its backdrop. Return to the hotel and enjoy a delicious meal. Then, prepare yourself for the next day’s trip.
Day 3: Summer Capital Calling-
The journey from Manali is 8 hours, hence leaving early from Manali. The entire trip gives you a sight of mesmerizing views of snow-clad mountains, long trees, and deep valleys. Reserve a night at Mashobra in a tent if you travel with friends. Himachal Tourism offers spaces as well as tents for overnight stays. However, tent stay in Mashobra, exploring the town on foot, is a different experience altogether. If you are traveling with your spouse or family, you can still stay in a hotel in Mashobra. Mashobra is located a little higher than Shimla and offers a majestic view of deep valleys. You can find homes in and around the valley. The clear sky at night is worth gazing at.
Day 4: Roam in the Wilderness-
Explore Mashobra. Take some small trails and enjoy the view. Go for breakfast to some distant place in the town. Explore the town culture. After breakfast, head to Kufri. Enjoy driving amidst the tiny villages and forests. Kufri has a beautiful nature park. Soak in the beauty of giant trees. Walk and play around in the nature park. If you are going on Honeymoon, this is the best place for some alone time together. Trek to Mahasu Peak is beautiful and starts from the nature park. It is a short trek trail. Enjoy the fascinating views of the Green Valley, the Wildflower Hall, Indira Holiday Home, And Fagu (a tiny village). Head to Shimla town. Try to stay near the mall road. The Mall Road in Shimla houses many old and famous hotels. Check into the hotel in Shimla and leave for Mall Road. It has a lot of high-end stores and street shops. It also houses some of the famous cafes in Shimla. You can choose any of these cafes for dinner and enjoy the bustling city view. The Ridge is the highest point of Shimla and is located just above the mall road. Slopes and stairs connect the Mall Road and the Ridge at many points. The Ridge overlooks the entire city of Shimla. The Ridge offers a view of many colonial-era buildings. The Ridge has many street-food shops to eat. Try momos at any of these shops.
Day 5: Adieu Shimla-
You can again visit the Ridge and enjoy the sunrise from the top. Have some tea and snacks at the local shop and enjoy the view from the top. The Ridge offers a step view of the town Shimla. Do not forget to click photographs with this beautiful view. Take the Gondola to the Jakhoo temple. Enjoy the view from the temple. Do not keep anything in hand as monkeys here try to steal stuff. Besides the Jakhoo temple is the famous Cafe Under the tree. The Cafe provides a spectacular view of Shimla. So you can have lunch or snacks and enjoy the view under the best weather in Shimla. If your return destination is Chandigarh or Delhi, you can take a bus or a taxi. However, the frequency of buses is relatively high for the Shimla-Delhi route.
